Bathinda: Akali Dal MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal, a Member of Parliament from the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), in an interview criticized the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the state and its alliance partner Congress for their ‘friendly fight’ in the Lok Sabha elections, demanded clarity from the Congress party on whether it is aligning with the people of Punjab or endorsing the allegedly corrupt Arvind Kejriwal.
In an interview with ANI on Sunday, the Member of Parliament from the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) urged the Punjab Congress to clarify its position. It is necessary for them to specify whether they were aligning themselves with the residents of Punjab or endorsing a corrupt individual, namely the chief minister of Delhi and national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Arvind Kejriwal.
Disregarding the Maha Rally of the AAP and its partners in the INDIA bloc at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan on Sunday, Kaur expressed contempt for all leaders in the Opposition alliance who came together to pledge support to a leader. This leader had evaded multiple summons by the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) in relation to the excise policy case before eventually being arrested.
“Arvind Kejriwal failed to comply with multiple summonses from the ED.” The judge has denied his request for bail. His ministers, Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain, have been incarcerated for the past eighteen months. “They also engaged in a comparable liquor fraud in Punjab,” Kaur stated.
Although the AAP and the Congress have been unable to reach an agreement on sharing seats for the Lok Sabha elections in Punjab, she asserts that the two parties are united in the state and that the public is being deceived for the purpose of garnering votes.
“The citizens of Punjab are prepared to deliver a fitting response to them on this occasion,” expressed the legislator from the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD).
Furthermore, she criticized the BJP for welcoming defectors from opposing political parties, particularly the long-established party, referring to them as the “new Congress”.
“The BJP has replaced the Congress as the dominant political party.” Former Congress leaders have defected to the BJP and have been given tickets to run in the next Lok Sabha elections. Contrarily, the SAD is refraining from attacking opposing camps and will instead participate in the elections based on its ideology and the interests of farmers,” she further stated.
Earlier today, prominent leaders from the Indian National Congress (INC) such as Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, National Conference (NC) patriarch Farooq Abdullah, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti, and Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren, among others, gathered at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan to demonstrate their support for the beleaguered Kejriwal.
Kejriwal was apprehended by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 21 and is presently under the custody of the central agency until April 1.
