Recently, Shehzad Khan, who portrayed Bhalla in the 1994 classic Andaz Apna Apna, revealed the tensions that existed between Aamir Khan and Salman Khan while they were filming the film. Khan, who co-starred with Biju Khote as Robert, claimed that the two actors’ divergent orientations to their work frequently caused friction.
Khan revealed, in conversation with Siddharth Kannan, that he had observed Aamir and Salman engaged in numerous disagreements.
He acknowledged assuming the role of mediator between them on account of their longstanding and intimate friendship with Salman.
An essential source of disagreement between the parties involved was their divergent work schedules. Despite the call time being 9 am, Aamir, renowned for his punctuality, would arrive at the Mud Island bungalow between 7 and 7:30 am. Conversely, Salman, a resident of Bandra, would invariably appear considerably later, between 10 and 11 am, as a result of diverse obstacles such as mechanical difficulties and additional setbacks.
Salman was defended by Khan, who emphasized the challenges associated with the commute from Bandra to the set. He elaborated that notwithstanding the variations in their methodologies, both actors delivered outstanding performances, irrespective of the quantity of takes necessary to attain perfection.
Khan clarified that despite the simmering tensions between Aamir and Salman, they never confronted one another overtly on set. Nevertheless, any deliberations or dissents might have taken place in an off-site location.
Notwithstanding the intermittent disagreements, Khan nostalgically recalled the congenial and familial ambiance that pervaded the Andaz Apna Apna set. The producer fostered a positive work environment through the provision of home-cooked meals and a nurturing atmosphere, which constituted hospitality.
Despite initial underperformance at the box office attributed to insufficient promotional efforts, Andaz Apna Apna ultimately attained cult status among viewers.
