Olivia Munn Underwent Double Mastectomy Following Breast Cancer Diagnosis - The Hard News Daily

The actress Olivia Munn revealed on Wednesday that she underwent a double mastectomy as part of her treatment after receiving a diagnosis of an aggressive form of breast cancer last year.

Munn, 43, stated in a lengthy social media statement that she had made an effort to take charge of her health. Munn has acted in numerous films and television shows, including the HBO series “The Newsroom.”

Munn underwent a comprehensive genetic test in February 2023, shortly after receiving a normal mammogram, to screen for 90 cancer genes. She said that none of them, including BRCA, the most well-known breast cancer gene, showed up on her tests. Around the same time, her sister’s test results were negative.

To know more about BRCA, Watch VIDEO –

Munn wrote, “We gave each other virtual high fives over the phone.”

Munn was diagnosed with luminal B breast cancer two months later. She got the double mastectomy a month later.

“I’ve had four surgeries in the last ten months, spent an inordinate amount of time in bed, and learned more about cancer, cancer treatment, and hormones than I could have ever imagined,”  Munn wrote. It’s surprising that I’ve only shed two tears. I suppose I haven’t felt as though I have enough time to cry.

Munn primarily urged people to consult their doctors to determine their breast cancer risk assessment score in her tweet. Munn’s obstetrician-gynecologist’s early detection of her cancer was made possible by this action.

Munn remarked, “The fact that she did saved my life.”

The risk assessment takes into account age and a family history of breast cancer; Munn noted in her post that having her first kid after the age of thirty was a contributing factor. Munn has been dating comedian John Mulaney since 2021. The two of them have a son named Malcolm who is two years old.

Munn’s doctor ordered an M.R.I. based on the results of her risk assessment, which led to an ultrasound. This caused a biopsy to show the malignancy.

Munn expressed her gratitude to her doctors, friends, and family in her post. She expressed her gratitude to Mulaney for investigating side effects and recuperation for all of her surgeries and prescriptions.

Munn’s social media over the last year has shown both joyful and glitzy moments, such as family beach images and shots of Munn wearing high-end clothing. She posted pictures of herself this past weekend at the Oscars ceremony, where Mulaney gave an award, while donning a silver Fendi gown.

She added, “I’ve tended to let people see me when I’m feeling energetic, when I can get dressed and leave the house, when I can go to the park with my baby boy.”

“I have maintained complete confidentiality regarding the diagnosis, anxiety, recuperation, pain medication, and paper gowns. Before sharing, I wanted to gather my thoughts and get through some of the most trying moments.

Who is Rajat Dalal : Updates on Elvish Yadav and Maxtern Conflict

The Role of Rajat Dalal : Updates on Elvish Yadav and Maxtern Conflict - The Hard News Daily

Popular powerlifter and fitness blogger Rajat Dalal has been in the news lately for his contentious behavior. Dalal, who is well-known for his extreme workout videos, has drawn notice for his vigilante-style actions and altercations with those he believes to be wrongdoers or imposters.

The Rajat Dalal’s Incident of the Fake Baba

Dalal met three people in November of last year who had broken into his Delhi residence dressed as Hindu holy men, or “fake babas.” Dalal decided to take issues into his own hands because he thought they were malicious. While live-broadcasting the incident on Instagram, he locked up the men, smacked them, held them captive, and even stripped them.

Check out the Video here :

In the widely shared films, Dalal is seen questioning the men and insisting that they perform Hindu prayers to validate their identity. He got angry when they didn’t work, hammering them and making them slap each other. Dalal charged them with intentional trespassing and asserted that their identity cards were phony.

Conflicts with Other Influencers

Dalal has always been confrontational; this episode is not the first one. He got into a heated argument with influencer and fellow powerlifter Sourav Kumar Singh (Singha) in January. Dalal reportedly showed up at Singh’s gym in Dehradun with a bunch of men after Singh made obscene statements about him, prompting Singh to leave.

Watch the video below –

Update on Elvish Yadav versus Maxim story

Dalal intervened in the well-known dispute between YouTubers Elvish Yadav and Maxtern. This can be seen as another instance of Dalal playing the vigilante role; in a previous video, Rajat had stated that he thought Maxtern was playing the victim card because he had a camera setup. A day after Yadav assaulted Maxtern on camera, Dalal went live on Instagram with Maxtern, sharing the clip and declaring that the parties involved, along with Maxtern’s family, would sort out the matter together.

A Chronicle of Vigilance of Rajat Dalal

Although Dalal frequently disregards the law and property, unconfirmed sources suggest that he has ties to judges and lawyers in his family. This could account for the lack of legal action against Dalal. He has a history of acting as a self-appointed vigilante, breaking traffic laws, damaging property, and documenting the events on Instagram.

There are concerns on where to draw the line between defending justice and enforcing one’s own laws as Dalal’s influence and contentious acts continue to draw attention.

New Delhi:

Arun Goel, the Election Commissioner, submitted his resignation to the President on Saturday, a few days before the Lok Sabha election schedule was revealed. It was planned that he will serve until December 2027, but unfortunately that didn’t happen.

Unveiling Arun Goel - The Former IAS Officer from Punjab Cadre Who Resigned - The Hard News Daily

The Law Ministry has announced that President Droupadi Murmu has accepted Goel’s resignation, which is effective immediately. The cause of his resignation is still unknown as of right now and nothing has been notified to the media about the cause.

“In pursuance of clause (1) of Section 11 of The Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioners (Appointment, Conditions of Service and Term of Office) Act, 2023, the President is pleased to accept the resignation tendered by Shri Arun Goel, Election Commissioner with effect from the 09th March, 2024,” the announcement read by the Law Ministry.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar is now the only member of the three-member Election Commission panel remaining after another member Anup Pandey retired in February and subsequently Goel too resigned.

Arun Goel: Who Is He?

Goel, has had a illustrious and privileged background. He who was born in Patiala on December 7, 1962, later he completed his master’s degree in science in mathematics and was given the Chancellors Medal of Excellence for consistently earning the first-class first rank and breaking records in all of his exams. He was an excellent student.

In addition, Arun Goel completed his postgraduate studies in development economics with distinction from Churchill College, University of Cambridge, England.

During his service time, he received his training at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.

On November 21, 2022, Arun Goel, a former Punjab-bred Indian Administrative Service (IAS) official, took over as Election Commissioner. At first, his term was supposed to end in 2027. Before being appointed, Goel had been the Ministry of Heavy Industries’ Secretary.

His appointment coincided with several states’ important Assembly elections, including Gujarat’s and was termed as controversial.

The Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) voiced concerns over Goel’s appointment and argued for a more open procedure in choosing India’s Election Commissioner in a Supreme Court case.

“The ADR petition argues that the appointment of Sh. Arun Goel as Election Commissioner, which was announced on November 19, 2022, is arbitrary and violates the Election Commission of India’s independence and institutional integrity. The writ petition is being filed in the public interest to challenge this decision.

Although it acknowledged the concerns expressed, the Supreme Court decided not to reverse Goel’s appointment.

Even though the court was taken aback by Goel’s decision to voluntarily quit before being appointed to the election commission, it dismissed the ADR’s request without taking any additional action.

Previously, Goel held positions as Joint Secretary, Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, Additional Secretary and Financial Advisor, Ministry of Labour and Employment, Vice-Chairman, Delhi Development Authority, and Secretary, Ministry of Culture.

Goel also served as the district election officer for the districts of Bathinda from 1993 to 1994 and Ludhiana from 1995 to 2000.

Exploring the Supreme Court of India: Landmark Verdicts and Judicial Impact

Exploring the Supreme Court of India: Landmark Verdicts and Judicial Impact - The Hard News Daily

The Supreme Court of India, the country’s highest judicial body, serves as the ultimate appellate court for all civil and criminal matters. Comprising the Chief Justice of India and up to 33 other judges, it possesses a broad range of powers, including original, appellate, and advisory authorities.

Exploring the Supreme Court of India: Landmark Verdicts and Judicial Impact - The Hard News Daily

This paramount court primarily handles appeals against the decisions of various state High Courts and tribunals. It functions as an advisory body when referred to by the President of India and holds the authority to invalidate legislation and constitutional amendments that contravene the Basic Structure doctrine through its judicial review power.

Its core responsibilities include protecting citizens’ fundamental rights and resolving disputes between the central and state governments.

The decisions of the Supreme Court are obligatory for all other courts in India and both the union and state governments. Article 142 of the Constitution grants the court unique jurisdiction to issue any necessary orders to ensure complete justice, binding even upon the President.

Since January 28, 1950, two days post India becoming a republic, the Supreme Court has superseded the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council as the country’s highest court of appeal.

Endowed with the constitutional power to exercise extensive jurisdiction and review legal statutes and amendments, the Supreme Court of India is recognized as one of the most influential supreme courts globally, highlighting its critical role in shaping India’s legal framework.

Let’s delves into the history, functions, and significant impacts of the Supreme Court, shedding light on its pivotal role in shaping Indian jurisprudence.

History and Structure of The Supreme Court

Supreme Court of India was established on January 28, 1950, following the adoption of the Constitution of India. The Supreme Court subsequently replaced the British-era Federal Court of India which Britishers established as a means of justice system during their colonial rule in India.

Located in New Delhi, it started with eight judges, including the Chief Justice. Today, the number has increased to accommodate the growing needs of Indian justice.

The Court’s architecture, designed by Ganesh Bhikaji Deolalikar, is a symbol of India’s legal sovereignty and reflects its judicial gravitas.

With the passage of the Indian High Courts Act in 1861, high courts were established in several provinces.

The Supreme Courts in Calcutta, Madras, and Bombay, as well as the Sadar Adalats in presidential cities, were abolished as a result of this act, and their jurisdictions were integrated into the new high courts.

Prior to the Federal Court of India’s establishment under the Government of India Act 1935, which gave it the power to hear appeals against high court rulings as well as settle disputes between federal states and provinces, these high courts acted as the highest court in the legal system for all cases.

When the Federal Court was established, the Indian legal system underwent a dramatic transformation, and H. J. Kania became the country’s first Chief Justice (CJI).

Following these events, on January 28, 1950, the Supreme Court of India was formally established. It replaced the Federal Court of India and the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council, taking its place as the highest court in the Indian judicial system.

On the same day as its inaugural sitting, the Supreme Court held its formal inauguration, ushering in a new chapter in Indian jurisprudence.

The Federal Court of India met at the Chamber of Princes in the legislative building, where the Supreme Court first convened until its dissolution. The new Supreme Court’s first Chief Justice, H. J. Kania, was named.

The court moved to its current location in 1958, ushering in a new era in its history.

According to the Indian Constitution, the Supreme Court would initially consist of a Chief Justice and seven judges, with Parliament having the authority to increase this number as needed.

The court’s early years were marked by a strict schedule that included 28 days a month of sessions from 10 am to noon and 2 to 4 pm, respectively. This demonstrated the court’s dedication to the administration of justice.

The Supreme Court’s logo, which depicts the capital city of Ashoka from Sarnath, a Lion, with a 32-spoke wheel at the top, embodies the authority and integrity of the legal system.

This emblem bears witness to the court’s fundamental function in maintaining the rule of law and administering justice in the context of India’s democracy.

Key Powers and Functions of The Supreme Court

The Supreme Court has extensive powers, ranging from original jurisdiction over disputes between states or between the union and states to appellate jurisdiction over lower court decisions.

Exploring the Supreme Court of India: Landmark Verdicts and Judicial Impact - The Hard News Daily

It is the ultimate interpreter of the Constitution and has the power to adjudicate on fundamental rights. Additionally, it has advisory jurisdiction, allowing the President of India to seek its opinion on legal matters.

Constitutional and Legal Framework

The Supreme Court was strictly established in accordance with the Constitution of India, which outlines its structure, jurisdiction, and functions. As the highest court in the land, it has been entrusted with a wide array of responsibilities and powers, aimed at administering justice and upholding the constitution.

Exploring the Supreme Court of India: Landmark Verdicts and Judicial Impact - The Hard News DailyOriginal Jurisdiction

One of the primary functions of the Supreme Court is its original jurisdiction, meaning the cases that can be directly submitted to it without going through any lower court.

This includes disputes between different states of India or between the Union and one or more states. Additionally, the Supreme Court handles cases involving the enforcement of fundamental rights, underlining its role in protecting individual liberties and human rights.

Appellate Jurisdiction

The appellate jurisdiction of the Supreme Court is perhaps its most well-known function. It hears appeals against the judgments and orders of lower courts, including high courts.

This can cover a wide range of matters, including civil, criminal, and constitutional law cases. The ability to hear appeals ensures that there is a final adjudicatory authority on legal matters, providing closure and certainty to litigants.

Advisory Jurisdiction

Under the Constitution, the President of India has the authority to seek advice from the Supreme Court on questions of law or fact that have public significance.

While the advice provided by the Supreme Court is not binding on the President, this function underscores the court’s role in clarifying legal issues and contributing to governance based on constitutional principles.

Judicial Review

Perhaps the most significant power of the Supreme Court is the power of judicial review. This enables the court to assess the constitutionality of legislative enactments and executive actions, thereby acting as a guardian of the Constitution.

Through judicial review, the Supreme Court ensures that the laws and policies of the country conform to constitutional values and principles, such as equality, freedom, and justice.

Power to Ensure Justice

Under Article 142 of the Constitution, the Supreme Court has been granted the power to pass any order necessary to do “complete justice” in any case or matter pending before it.

This unique power underscores the Supreme Court’s role as the final arbiter of justice and allows it to provide relief in a manner that might not be strictly within the confines of existing laws, thereby upholding the spirit of justice and equity.

Public Interest Litigation

Exploring the Supreme Court of India: Landmark Verdicts and Judicial Impact - The Hard News Daily

The Supreme Court of India has also pioneered the concept of Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in India, allowing the court to address the grievances of the public at large, especially the underprivileged sections of society.

This has enabled the court to tackle a range of issues, from environmental protection to human rights issues, thereby broadening the scope of judicial intervention.

Landmark Verdicts of the Supreme court and Their Impact

Over the years, the Supreme Court has passed numerous landmark verdicts that have reshaped Indian society and law.

Notable among these are the Kesavananda Bharati case (1973), which established the doctrine of the basic structure of the Constitution, and the Navtej Singh Johar case (2018), which decriminalized homosexuality.

These decisions, among others, highlight the Court’s role in evolving societal norms and legal precedents and set benchmarks for the justice system.

Current Chief Justice and Notable Judges

The Supreme Court is headed by the Chief Justice of India (CJI), with Justices appointed based on their experience and legal acumen.

The current CJI, along with notable past justices, has contributed significantly to the development of Indian law through judicious verdicts and legal interpretations.

The current Chief Justice of India is Dhananjaya Yeshwant Chandrachud, who took office on November 9, 2022, becoming the 50th Chief Justice.

Exploring the Supreme Court of India: Landmark Verdicts and Judicial Impact - The Hard News Daily
The current Chief Justice of India – Dhananjaya Yeshwant Chandrachud

He has an illustrious background, having served on the Supreme Court since May 2016 and as the Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court prior to that. He’s noted for his role in significant judgments including the decriminalization of homosexuality, the right to privacy, and the Sabarimala case.

Justice Chandrachud was born into a distinguished family, the son of Y.V. Chandrachud, India’s longest-serving chief justice.

He boasts a rich educational background with degrees from Delhi University and Harvard Law School.

His professional journey includes practicing law in both the Bombay High Court and Supreme Court, and he has been involved in various landmark rulings during his tenure.

The role of the Chief Justice in India extends beyond presiding over court cases. He is responsible for the allocation of cases and the appointment of constitutional benches, dealing with matters of law.

Additionally, the Chief Justice carries out administrative functions, maintaining the roster, appointing court officials, and overseeing the overall functioning of the Supreme Court.

As established by the Indian Constitution, the Chief Justice is appointed by the President of India, based on recommendations typically coming from the incumbent Chief Justice, and serves until the age of 65.

Notable Chief Justices of India include Hiralal Jekisundas Kania, the first Chief Justice after India’s independence, and Yeshwant Vishnu Chandrachud, the longest-serving Chief Justice from February 1978 to July 1985. Other significant figures are M. Hidayatullah, who also served as Vice President of India, and K. G. Balakrishnan, the first Chief Justice from the Dalit community.

Public Perception and Judicial Activism

The Supreme Court’s decisions often reflect its proactive role in addressing societal issues, a concept known as judicial activism.

This has led to a mixed public perception, with the Court being seen as a guardian of rights but also critiqued for overreaching into legislative domains.

The Supreme Court of India’s role has expanded over the years, significantly impacting public perception through its approach to judicial activism.

This activism is seen when the court actively steps in to make decisions that directly address pressing societal issues, going beyond just interpreting the law.

This has led to landmark judgments on environmental protection, human rights, and corruption, profoundly influencing Indian society and governance.

While many laud this as necessary for justice and reform, others criticize it as overreach, arguing it encroaches on legislative and executive domains.

The balance between judicial activism and overreach continues to be a subject of debate, reflecting the evolving relationship between the judiciary and Indian democracy.

Challenges and Criticisms of The Supreme Court

Despite its esteemed position, the Supreme Court faces challenges such as case backlogs and allegations of judicial overreach.

Criticisms also focus on the opaque nature of the collegium system used for appointing judges, calling for more transparency and accountability.

Challenges Facing the Supreme Court

One of the most pressing challenges is the massive backlog of cases, leading to prolonged delays in justice delivery.

With millions of cases pending across various courts in India, the Supreme Court is not immune to this logjam, affecting its efficiency and the public’s trust in the judicial process.

Another significant issue is the lack of transparency in the appointment process of judges. The collegium system, though intended to ensure independence and meritocracy, often faces criticism for its opaqueness and alleged nepotism.

This has led to calls for reforms in the judicial appointment process to make it more transparent and accountable.

Moreover, the Supreme Court, like much of the Indian judicial system, grapples with infrastructure and resource constraints.

Inadequate facilities, staffing issues, and outdated technology hinder the court’s efficiency and accessibility.

Criticisms of the Supreme Court

The Supreme Court has also faced its share of criticisms, notably regarding perceived biases and allegations of corruption within the judiciary. These accusations undermine the integrity of the court and erode public trust.

Another area of concern is judicial overreach, where the court is perceived to interfere in legislative and executive matters beyond its jurisdiction. This has sparked debates about the separation of powers and the limits of judicial intervention.

Additionally, the lack of diversity among the justices, in terms of gender, regional representation, and socio-economic background, has been a point of contention. Critics argue that this lack of diversity affects the court’s understanding and handling of various social issues.

Recent Controversies and Cases

Recent years have seen the Supreme Court at the center of several controversies and landmark cases.

Decisions on issues such as the Ayodhya dispute, the right to privacy, and the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir have been highly polarizing, eliciting varied reactions from different sections of society and the legal community.

Efforts Towards Reform

In response to these challenges and criticisms, there have been efforts towards judicial reform, both from within the judiciary and from civil society.

Proposals have included increasing the number of judges, improving judicial infrastructure, and revising the collegium system to enhance transparency and accountability.

Additionally, there have been initiatives to adopt technology and digitalize processes to make the judiciary more accessible and efficient.

However, these reforms face their own set of challenges and resistance, highlighting the complexity of judicial reform in India.

Conclusion

The Supreme Court of India remains a cornerstone of the Indian democracy, shaping legal frameworks and societal norms through its verdicts.

While it faces various challenges, its role in upholding justice and democratic values continues to be of paramount importance to the nation’s fabric.

Know Narendra Modi: Pioneering Change of Leadership in India - The Hard News Daily

In June 1975, India saw a dramatic shift when Prime Minister Indira Gandhi instituted a national emergency that persisted until 1977, a period now referred to as “the Emergency.” This era was marked by the suppression of political dissent, with the incarceration of numerous opposition figures and the prohibition of opposition parties.

Narendra Modi, during this tumultuous time, was designated as the general secretary of the “Gujarat Lok Sangharsh Samiti,” a body established by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to counteract the Emergency in Gujarat.

However, the political climate intensified as the RSS faced a ban, prompting Modi to adopt a clandestine lifestyle to eschew capture. He donned various disguises, including those of a monk and a Sikh, to remain incognito while he actively disseminated anti-government pamphlets, spearheaded protests, and established a clandestine support network for political fugitives and activists.

Amidst these endeavors, Modi penned a book in Gujarati titled ‘Sangharsh Ma Gujarat’ detailing the Emergency’s adversities in Gujarat. His underground activism also led him to encounters with prominent figures like trade unionist George Fernandes.

Transition to RSS and BJP Leadership

Following the Emergency, in 1978, Modi transitioned into a significant role within the RSS as a ‘sambhag pracharak’ (regional organiser), tasked with supervising activities in regions like Surat and Vadodara. By 1979, he advanced his career in Delhi, engaging in research and documenting the RSS’s experiences during the Emergency.

After a tenure in Delhi, Modi returned to Gujarat, and in 1985, the RSS appointed him to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), marking the onset of his political ascent within mainstream politics.

In 1987, Modi was instrumental in the BJP’s success in the Ahmedabad municipal elections, showcasing his strategic acumen. This victory, coupled with his effective organizational skills, led to his inclusion in the BJP’s leadership circle, initially as the organising secretary for Gujarat.

His influence within the party continued to grow, evidenced by his contributions to the National Election Committee and key roles in significant political campaigns like Advani’s Ram Rath Yatra and Joshi’s Ekta Yatra.

Political Strategies and Ascendancy

The early 1990s were a period of transition for Modi, who momentarily stepped away from the political frontlines to found a school in Ahmedabad. However, internal party dynamics and the insistence of senior leaders like Advani saw his return to active politics.

His strategic insights were pivotal in the BJP’s triumph in the 1995 Gujarat state assembly elections, leading to his appointment as BJP national secretary and his subsequent move to New Delhi.

Modi’s strategic prowess was once again on display during the 1998 Gujarat Legislative Assembly elections. Amidst internal factionalism, his support for candidates aligned with Keshubhai Patel played a decisive role in consolidating the party’s position and securing a majority.

This success not only quelled internal divisions but also cemented Modi’s status within the party, culminating in his promotion to BJP general secretary (organization) in May 1998.

Israeli Airstrikes Flatten Landmark Tower in Gaza’s Rafah, Leaving Many Without Homes

Israeli Airstrikes Flatten Landmark Tower in Gaza's Rafah, Leaving Many Without Homes - The Hard News Daily

Rafah, Gaza:

Residents of Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip, stated that Israel struck one of the biggest residential towers on Saturday. This move increased pressure on the final part of the enclave that Israel has not yet occupied, where over a million Palestinians who have been displaced are being housed.

The 12-story structure sustained damage from the explosion 500 meters from the Egyptian border.

Residents claim that dozens of families were made homeless despite the fact that no casualties were reported. When asked about the event, the Israeli military did not immediately answer.

Israel issued the 300 inhabitants of the skyscraper a 30-minute notice to leave the building at night, one of the residents told Reuters.

There was pandemonium as people were shocked and began to tumble down the stairs. People fled with their money and belongings, according to Mohammad Al-Nabrees, who also mentioned that a friend’s pregnant wife was one of the people who fell down the stairs in a panic.

The Palestinian Authority, which has limited self-rule in the occupied West Bank, another Palestinian region, is dominated by the Fatah party, whose official in Rafah expressed anxiety that hitting the Rafah tower was a precursor to an impending Israeli invasion.

After Israel’s relentless air and ground assault on Gaza for five months, thousands of Palestinians were reported to be trapped beneath debris, over 72,500 wounded, and approximately 31,000 dead.

The offensive has unleashed a humanitarian crisis on Palestinian territory, which was already struggling under a 17-year embargo spearheaded by Israel. The U.N. has warned of sickness and malnutrition, and the majority of the 2.3 million people living there have been forced to flee as much of it has been left to rubble.

Gaza health ministry spokesman Ashraf Al-Qidra claimed that three Palestinian infants passed away at the northern Al Shifa Hospital over night from malnourishment and dehydration. According to Qidra, this brought the total number of Palestinian deaths from comparable causes in less than ten days to 23.

The president of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Mirjana Spoljaric, stated, “This brutal war has ruptured any sense of a shared humanity.”

She demanded an end to hostilities so that real help could be sent to Gaza, the unconditional release of all captives by Hamas, and the humanitarian treatment of Palestinians detained by Israel, including their right to speak with their relatives.

According to Israeli estimates, a Hamas-led onslaught on southern Israel on October 7 resulted in 1,200 deaths and 253 hostages. This incident set off the war.

Aiming for the desired deadline of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which starts on or around March 10, negotiations on a truce and the release of the 134 hostages who remain in Gaza appeared to be at a standstill.

The team of Hamas was “unlikely” to travel Cairo for negotiations over the weekend, a Hamas source told Reuters. Hamas attributed the lack of progress to Israel, which has resisted offering assurances or pledges to halt the conflict or withdraw its troops from the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli military announced in a statement that it had carried out arrests, found weapons, and killed over thirty fighters in Khan Younis, including in the areas near Hamad, central Gaza, and the northern Beit Hanoun area. The statement summarized the military’s activities in Gaza during the previous day.

According to Gaza’s health ministry, Israeli attacks throughout the Gaza Strip have killed at least 82 individuals in the past day.

According to medical personnel in Khan Younis, Israeli bombardment of a housing project in the Hamad neighborhood of the city and military incursions on residences claimed the lives of at least 23 persons. A Palestinian fisherman was killed by Israeli fire on a beach in the northern Gaza Strip, according to medical personnel.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Announces New Road and Railway Projects in Siliguri, West Bengal Ahead of Lok Sabha Elections: BJP vs TMC Dynamics - The Hard News Daily

New Delhi: As part of the Viksit Bharat West Bengal initiative, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Siliguri on Saturday. There, he dedicated and opened several key rail and road projects worth over Rs 4,500 crores, which represents a major advancement in the region’s infrastructure development.

Prime Minister Modi attacked the Mamata Banerjee-led administration, claiming that the TMC “loots” the central cash designated for MGNREGA employees. “Modi sends money from Delhi for MGNREGA wages, but the TMC government embezzles your money.” 25 lakh bogus job cards were created and distributed to the populace in order to benefit the TMC’s “tolabaz,” he claimed.

Taking jabs at the Trinamool Congress (TMC) administration in power, Prime Minister Modi stated that the Sandeshkhali incident is being discussed nationwide. He went on to say that the TMC and Left Front both disregarded the fundamental requirements of the Bengali people. “First the Left disregarded you, and then the TMC followed suit. Looting the land of the poor was their busy business. Consequently, I returned all those amenities to you when you offered me the chance,” he stated.

The TMC administration disburses funds to individuals selected by extortionists. The TMC is unaffected by the misery of the people. The entire nation is talking about what the TMC leaders did to the ladies of Sandeshkhali, who are Dalit and Adivasi. TMC commits atrocities on women and plunders the impoverished, he continued.

In a jab at the previous Central governments, Prime Minister Modi claimed that the eastern region of India continued to be overlooked by the Central government even after independence. “The trains used to travel slower as they entered the northeast at one point. However, our government is working to raise the rail speed in North Bengal in line with the national rise. Eastern India’s growth was neglected for a long period after independence. However, the northeast is regarded by our government as the nation’s growth engine. The central government is working hard to support West Bengal’s development, according to PM Modi.

“The people of Bihar would also profit from this process of electricity. The people’s level of living will rise as a result of the railway infrastructure being strengthened. Bengal to Bangladesh train services are currently available. We are closing the gap between the two countries by working with the government of Bangladesh, PM Modi remarked.

PM Modi praised the initiative and called it a step towards ‘Viksit Bengal’: ‘I am glad to come to North Bengal, which is famous for its tea’. Here today, foundation stones have been set for numerous projects valued at thousands of crores. This is a critical phase in the creation of a “Viksit Bengal.” North Bengal offers commercial connections with other nations and serves as a gateway to Northeastern India.”

PM Modi’s numerous electrification projects, which aim to improve rail connections and help the people of North Bengal and its neighboring territories, are among his notable national initiatives. These projects cover a number of parts, including Siliguri – Aluabari via Bagdogra, Barsoi – Radhikapur, Raninagar Jalpaiguri – Haldibari, and Siliguri – Sivok – Alipurduar Jn – Samuktala (which includes Alipurduar Jn – New Cooch Behar).

PM Modi also inaugurated railway projects, such as the installation of electronic interlocking in New Jalpaiguri and automatic block signaling in Ambari Falakata – Aluabari, as well as the doubling of the railway line in the Manigram – Nimtita segment. In addition, he inaugurated a brand-new passenger rail service that runs between Radhikapur and Siliguri.

These projects have the potential to improve freight traffic, increase rail connectivity, and stimulate job growth and employment prospects in the area.

To strengthen the state’s road network, Prime Minister Modi launched two Rs 3,100 crore National Highway projects. The Ghospukur – Dhupguri Section of NH 27 will be expanded to have four lanes, and a four-lane Islampur Bypass will be built on NH 27. An essential component of the North-South transport corridor, which allows for easy access between Eastern India and the rest of the nation, is the Ghospukur–Dhupguri portion.

Furthermore, it is anticipated that the four-lane Islampur Bypass will lessen traffic in Islampur town.

This is noteworthy because it is PM Modi’s third visit to the state in as many months. During his earlier trips, the Prime Minister traveled through a number of southern West Bengali districts, such as Hooghly, Nadia, and North 24 Parganas, which are regarded as Trinamool Congress (TMC) strongholds.

The much awaited Miss World 2024 contest, which will make its dramatic comeback to India after a 28-year absence, is expected to enthrall viewers. This prestigious beauty contest, which was originally scheduled to take place in the United Arab Emirates, will now take place on Saturday, March 9, at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai. The Femina Miss India 2022 winner Sini Shetty will represent India in the Miss World 2024 contest.

After 2006, director Karan Johar plans to return to the Miss World stage. This time, he will co-host the function alongside the Philippines’ Megan Young, the 2013 Miss World. In reference to Miss World’s 28-year absence from India, Manushi Chillar quipped, “What took them so long?”

“Well, they’ve had some excellent Indian champions. However, I can’t wait to see the conclusion. I’m glad that the world will witness this since all of these females will visit India, return, talk about their experiences, and have already started sharing on social media. Thus, this will be seen in every country. After 28 years, an event similar to this will also occur in India,” she continued.

She continued to talk about her experience as Miss World, saying, “To be really honest, I think that experience was more exciting than what happened after, but for me, it was the 30 days leading up to the final night that added value. I spent so much time with these other girls and learned so much from them. Not just that last night, but a lot more goes into this Miss World pageant. Thus, more of the pagan world will be shown to the public.”

Neha Kakkar, an Indian singer, and her brother Tony Kakkar will perform at the Miss World 024 grand finale on March 9. Shaan will also be giving a performance at tomorrow’s celebration. The thrill of this really global show will be increased by the presence of Polish model Karolina Bielawska, the winner of Miss World 2021, who will be there to crown the next Miss World.

Manushi talked about how wonderful it is for girls from other nations to have a taste of India’s hospitality and culture.

“These girls will all get to experience the hospitality that India is known for,” she remarked. They will get to experience the hospitality when their families and teams attend the finale, after which they can return and discuss it. Thus, I believe it’s fantastic that India will be seen by the globe.”

Manushi Chillar, the final Miss World from India to date, won the title in 2017. That year, at the end, she looked stunning in an off-the-shoulder pastel gown adorned with Swarovski crystals. Her bright presence was accentuated by the airy silhouette, while the modern approach was reflected in the minimum accessories.

The top 5 delegates were asked the same question at the Femina Miss India 2017 final round of questions and answers: “You have spent 30 days with 30 fellow contestants at Femina Miss India. Which lesson are you going to carry with you?

“These days that I have spent with my fellow contestants has been the most dynamic period of my life,” Chhillar retorted to this. Throughout the entire encounter, ambiguity was the only thing that was known for sure. I just had one belief that I would carry with me: yes, I am capable of changing the world. There was only passion when I walked inside Miss India. But during this journey, I developed a vision for my life. I’m going to carry my vision and my conviction that I can make a difference in the world with me.”

In the meantime, Manushi is enjoying the popularity of her most recent film, “Operation Valentine,” in which she portrays radar controller Sonal Chauhan.
