Guwahati:

In the presence of numerous dignitaries and spectators at Guwahati’s Saru Sajai Sports Complex, including Home Minister Amit Shah and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, a squad of young commandos donned black combat fatigues and equipped with cutting-edge close-range, sniper, and automatic weaponry rappelled down a rope from an Army Aviation Corps hovering Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) to demonstrate a tactical exercise.

The new recruits of Assam’s Black Panthers commando battalions are reminiscent of the National Security Guards (NSG) in their strategy to deal with hostage situations, although they are actually the state’s own police force.

Assam Police inducted 2,551 new police commandos, marking a watershed milestone in the force’s history.

It was the first time the Indian Army had ever trained such a huge number of any police force in the nation as part of their commando course, according to the Assam Police.

It is the first time the army has trained such a big number of young recruits (2,551 sub-inspectors and constables). Assam Special DGP Harmeet Singh informed reporters that the recruits received basic military training before transferring to the Dergaon-based Lachit Borphukan Police Academy for their police training.

The unprecedented partnership with the army and the large number of skilled troops are two reasons why the historic procession has garnered so much attention.

Their graduation from an open and honest hiring process is the most crucial detail. The fact that the Home Minister was present at the passing out procession and saluted them was the most significant event. According to Mr. Singh, the presence of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is a great honor for the Assam Police and the state of Asam as a whole.
