Tennessee child abuse fugitive surrendered to police after 45 terrifying minutes in freezing temperatures.

 

Despite the subzero temperatures, a Tennessee man wanted for child rape surrendered to authorities after just an hour on the run.

Demarkus Davis, a 20-year-old guy, reportedly escaped while shackled while being carried to the county jail in a police car on January 14, according to the Memphis Police Department.

The guy, who escaped in just trousers and a gray hoodie, was the subject of a police bulletin seeking his whereabouts.

Officials in Memphis, Tennessee, reported that 20-year-old Demarkus Davis gave up trying to evade police custody on Saturday due to the freezing conditions. (Office of the Sheriff of Shelby County)

Davis decided it was preferable to be locked up than frozen after walking through the cold for around 45 minutes.

According to the police, the young man surrendered himself after he flagged down a passing vehicle.

According to the Memphis police, Davis returned to the station because he was too chilly to continue. (Digital Fox News)

His bond amount is $76,000, and he is currently in custody.
