Qatar Airways Flight Experiences Severe Turbulence, Injuring Twelve

On May 26, 2024, a Qatar Airways flight from Doha to Dublin encountered significant turbulence, leading to injuries sustained by twelve persons. During the food and beverages service, Flight QR017, which was operated by a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, experienced turbulence while flying over Turkey. Dublin Airport stated that the turbulence subsided in within 20 seconds.

After touching down at around 1 p.m. local time in Dublin (1200 GMT), the plane was greeted by emergency services, such as the Airport Police and the Fire and Rescue department. A total of twelve individuals, consisting of six passengers and six crew members, sustained injuries and were promptly provided with medical care.

Qatar Airways issued a statement acknowledging that a limited number of passengers and crew members had minor injuries and are currently receiving medical attention. The airline is conducting an internal inquiry into the event.
