There is an Instagram channel called Street Worldz, started by a girl named Jagriti Mishra. Jagriti Mishra is an animal rescuer from Delhi, and her official Instagram handle, StreetWorldz_709, has more than 2 million followers. She is the founder of the Street Worldz Trust, which helps injured, accident-prone, and handicapped street animals. She rescues them, and she also treats them.
She and her entire organisation run on donations, and a lot of people across India support her. Her shelter houses more than 300 dogs, including dogs who cannot move, who are paralysed, diseased, unwell, on the verge of dying, or suffering from various other illnesses.
She even goes to the length of sometimes pressing their stomachs to help them urinate. Huge amounts of food are also cooked every day for all these dogs, and everything is run on a zero-profit basis.
This morning, there were many videos of her. Since last night, she has been posting videos in which a man named Sonu, who looks like a local strongman from the village, is said to have called the junior engineer of the village. According to her, he told the engineer that the shelter she was building was not on legal grounds.
Despite there being videos of her signing all the documents and going through the due process of law to acquire the land, the junior engineer, without even sending a notice, called in JCB bulldozers and started destroying the shelter. When she came to know about it, she rushed to the spot and found her shelter destroyed. She called the police, but before they could arrive, the junior engineer had destroyed construction worth more than Rs. 70 lakhs, as she claims in the video.
A lot of people are sharing her videos on Instagram and X. Since she is doing a selfless act of helping these animals, there should not have been any problem. But then again, this is a world where people have a problem with every good thing that happens.
This man called Sonu, who she alleges is connected to the Aam Aadmi Party, was asking Jagriti for a bribe to let her run the place, which she refused. It is believed that, angered by her refusal, he called the junior engineer and used the influence that came from his party connection to get the place destroyed.
People on Twitter (X) and Instagram are appealing to the current CM, Rekha Gupta, to take action against those responsible.
