Imran Khan’s “Leave India” notice case: Bombay High Court defers hearing to October 27 at the actor’s own lawyer’s request

The Bombay High Court has postponed the hearing of Imran Khan’s challenge to the FRRO notice requiring him to depart India by October 28 until the afternoon of the 27th.
Imran Khan is an Indian film actor who is 43 years old and a US citizen. He currently resides in India as an OCI cardholder. He was detained by Mumbai Police on October 10 during the protest held in support of the Cockroach Janta Party, and he now denies taking part in it. He calls the order arbitrary and issued without proper inquiry.
His senior advocate, Venkatesh Dhond, requested the adjournment. After consulting Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, there was no objection from him, amid social media notes clarifying that the lawyer himself initiated the adjournment.
A user, Sougat Chakraborty, writes that the senior advocate Venkatesh Dhond, arguing for the actor Imran Khan, told the bench that he had a word with Solicitor General Tushar Mehta and needed a short time. After Mehta told the court he had no difficulty, the bench deferred Imran Khan’s plea hearing to October 27 at 3 pm.
A lot of users are claiming that the Indian Express headline on it gives a misleading impression.
A user called Prasad Karwa has said that the actual news is that Imran Khan’s lawyer asked for an adjournment, and the state and the court accepted it, but from the headline, it looks otherwise.
Another user called Sunny Raj makes it clearer: even though the headline says that the High Court defers Imran Khan’s hearing, the actual news is that Imran Khan’s own lawyer has requested more time for it.
Now all we have to do is wait for 3 pm, when the court will decide which way this goes.
